Date: Tuesday 17 January 2017

Woodknowledge Wales are delighted to announce that on 17th January 2017 Powys council’s Cabinet voted to adopted a new policy that will see any new homes seeking to use locally supplied timber systems or products. As part of the Homegrown Homes initiative, the Wood Encouragement Policy looks to make better use of natural resources and create local employment opportunities.

“The Wood Encouragement Policy sets out that all new Council housing projects will look to use wood as the preferred material for both construction and fit out purposes,” said a council statement.
